I got into this band in a sort of a backwards way. I was looking into what concerts were coming up in the next few months here in Vancouver, and this name caught my eye. One quick listen and I was hooked. Super catchy indie dance-pop. Is that descriptive enough?
This particular album dates back to 2008, when I guess this sub-genre was a little more well-known. Friendly Fires is so incredibly catchy though, it’s hard to ignore! I have no problem listening to this album on repeat. It was even nominated for the Mercury Prize in 2009.
There’s more to look forward to as well! A new album drops next month! And their tour arrives in Vancouver in June! I am a late convert to Friendly Fires for sure…
